YUN (Joe) WU is a multidisciplinary graphic designer from New York City. Upon graduating from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Graphic Design, Joe worked for MTV Networks' On Air design department as a motion graphics designer acquiring a taste for broadcast and film. After his time at MTV, Joe followed his design adventures to Woo Art International Inc, a design/production boutique where he served as senior designer armed with design arsenal ranging from print, web, exhibition to broadcast. There, he worked on projects in various mediums and multimedia formats for clients as diverse as SAP, Teliris, LexisNexis, AZN Television, and Major League Gaming, to name a few.
As a mainstay of New York City indie film fests, Joe has freelanced as art director/graphic designer for the New York Asian American International Film Festival with Asian CineVision since 2003, and Media That Matters Film Festival in 2006 and 2007. Joe has also provided film title designs, animation, and on-screen graphics for award-winning independant films such as OUTSOURCED (winner of Golden Space Needle Audience Award for Best Film at Seattle Intn'l Film Festival 2007, and official selection at Toronto International Film Festival 2006), ELECTION DAY (official selection of SXSW Film Festival and Hot Docs! International Documentary Film Festival 2007, and will be aired on POV in 2008), and WINGS OF DEFEAT (official selection of Hot Doc! International Documentary Film Festival, and International Documentary Film Festival of Amsterdamn 2007).
Born in a re-education camp in XinJiang, China during the Cultural Revolution in 1980, he has been in art schools since the age of four - and is not afraid of using color! In his free time, Joe enjoys hoarding music from all genres. He speaks three dialects of Chinese, and likes to cook as a way to relax. He's a Gemini/Cancer cusp and can explain to you what that means in full detail.
